Calendula - Pacific Beauty
A daisy-family flower with a long, honorable history.
Calendula is a genus of about twelve to twenty species in the daisy family, native to an area stretching from Macaronesia through the Mediterranean to Iran. The pot marigold (Calendula officinalis) is the most cultivated species and the source of most herbal and cosmetic products labeled "calendula." Not to be confused with the Tagetes marigolds, which are a different genus entirely. The leaves are edible, though calendula is most often grown for its flowers.
